Configuring Static VLANs

The static VLAN corresponding to the manual assignment of switch ports to a VLAN via aVLAN management application or directly working on the switch. These ports maintain the VLAN configuration assigned to them until it is changed manually.
 Movements are controlled and managed.
• There is a management software to configure VLAN robust ports.
It is not desirable to evaluate the additional overhead required to update the MAC addresses of end stations and custom filtering tables.
Dynamic VLANs do not rely on ports assigned to a specific VLAN.
The following guidelines must be followed when configuring VLANs on Cisco 29xx:
The maximum number depends on the VLAN switch.
• The VLAN 1 is one of the default VLAN.
• The VLAN is an Ethernet VLAN by default.
• Announcements CDP (Cisco Discovery Protocol) and VTP (VLAN Trunking Protocol) is sent on VLAN 1. (VTP is discussed in Module 9)
• The Catalyst 29xx IP address is associated by default broadcast domain VLAN 1.
The switch must be in VTP server mode to create, add, or delete VLANs.
Creating a VLAN on a switch is a very simple and straightforward task. If you use a switch-based Cisco IOS commands, switch VLAN configuration by using the vlan databaseprivileged EXEC mode. The steps for creating a VLAN are shown below. A VLAN namecan also be configured as necessary.
